Hair transplantation is a cosmetic procedure where the bald area is covered with hair, along with its roots, taken from other sites such as back of scalp, beard, chest.

What was once a females obsession has now extended into a man’s lifestyle and they are now more conscious of, not only what they wear, but also their looks, than ever before. Hence, Hair Transplants are becoming increasingly common in today’s times, as more and more persons are shedding their inhibitions and coming forward to enhance, not just their looks and appearance, but also their confidence level. Thus when one thinks of a hair transplant, the person must choose the centre with utmost care, after an exhaustive search.

We, at EUGENIX, have all the ingredients that make for a successful centre for hair transplants. The success rate of a hair transplant varies, depending upon a host of factors, the most important of them being the experience of the surgeon at the centre. We, at EUGENIX, are headed by two of the most experienced doctors , Dr. Pradeep Sethi and Dr. Arika Bansal, both from the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi, who have won many awards and are known the world over. It is important at the start to do a good evaluation of the patient and choose the donor area carefully, to ensure the availability of healthy and thick grafts. Good grafts contribute to the success rate immensely.

Another factor that determine the outcome of the transplant is the procedure. FUE, or Follicular Unit Extraction, is followed by most successful doctors and we at EUGENIX do the modified and more advanced form, the DHT, of Direct Hair Transplant method. In this procedure, the grafts are extracted and implanted side by side, almost immediately, so that the time the grafts are left outside is greatly reduced, which further adds to the success rate. Minimal handling of the grafts helps the process further and all these factors combined make our success rate of almost a 100% one. All these things, done properly, contribute immensely to a great, successful transplant. We, at EUGENIX, have an assured success rate and can be corroborated from our vast sea of patients, who have had successful transplants at our world famous centre.

Hair transplants should always be entrusted to people with experience, as it is a procedure well thought out after a lot of deliberation and research to enhance the looks of the individual concerned. Besides looks, hair restoration provides added confidence to many who decide to go through it.

As mentioned, this procedure is not just a money making spin, but has to be done in such a way that an onlooker should not be able to make out that the person he or she is seeing has had such a makeover.

For this, the surgeon concerned has to be so experienced to give an absolutely natural look to the patient, giving personal attention to the hairline, crafting it according to the contour of the face. A faulty procedure can be made out in a single look, with thick hair and multiple follicles donning the hairline and a very artificial appearance in the arrangement and direction of the hair due to faulty slit making and implantation.

We, at Eugenix, get many patients who have had a previous procedure by inexperienced hands, not just in India but at certain foreign centres too.

Corrective hair transplants are very difficult and time consuming, as the previously transplanted faulty hairs have to be extracted, the hairline restructured and then a completely reformed appearance has to be presented.

In many cases, extraction of hair from places where that hair should not have been in the first place, leads to small micro scars, (albeit imperceptible in our hands) which at times threats to be visible as a blemish in the otherwise aesthetic appearance.

Before undergoing a hair transplant procedure, it is important to have some basic blood tests done to see whether you are medically fit and are not having any pre existing disease, like infection, diabetes or any bleeding disorders. Besides this tests to rule out HIV and Viral liver disease are also done.

If you are on anticoagulants or ‘blood thinners’, they must be discontinued 5 days prior to the procedure.

Alcohol intake and smoking must be stopped at least a week before surgery, as these interfere in healing and graft uptake may be hampered.

Hair oils are to be discontinued, but shampoos can be regularly used.

Hair on the head is not to be trimmed and one should not shave for 2-3 days prior to the surgery, as beard hair may have to be used for the purpose of transplant.

And lastly, on the day of surgery, if one is on medications for any disease such as Diabetes, Blood Pressure or Thyroid disorders, medicines must be taken as per the daily routine. And one must have a good and proper breakfast and most importantly, be mentally relaxed in preparation for the surgery.

After the surgery, avoid sleeping prone, so that pressure is not put on the implanted grafts, to prevent them from getting damaged. Avoid touching or fiddling with the transplanted grafts and also take care that your head does not bump into any object, wall or car.

A saline spray bottle will be provided, which has to be sprayed on the transplanted area at 2-3 hourly intervals for 5-7 days after the surgery.

Antibiotic ointment can be applied on the donor area after cleaning with sterile water.

A loose surgical cap can be worn on the head or preferably, if at home, don’t wear anything on the head. During sleeping, remove the cap from the head.

Normal activity can be resumed from the next day itself but heavy physical activity should be avoided for at least 7 days. After the first hair wash on the 7th day, you can use your normal shampoo as was used before surgery.

Hair transplant in a patient involves removal of hair from different parts of the body, mainly from the back of the scalp and in many cases, the beard and implanting them on the recipient site. Slits are first made on the recipient site and hair taken from the donor area are implanted by the DHT technique, mastered by us at Eugenix.

The areas where the slits are made are ultimately filled by the hair from the donor sites, but a raw area remains in the donor portion, mainly the back of the scalp and the beard.

Since the face and the scalp have a fairly good blood supply, wounds in these regions tend to heal much faster comparatively than other parts of the body.

On the first night the patient has some amount of discomfort as he has to lie on his back, so the rawness on the back of his scalp tends to be a little irritating and does cause a degree of uneasiness in the initial stages, the amount depending on the persons tolerance to pain, but one gets accustomed to it and subsequently sleeps well enough. After that the wounds heal rapidly and from the second night onwards the pain or discomfort reduces drastically. As the patient is on antibiotics and pain relievers, he does not feel much pain or discomfort thereafter.

When I had my transplant, I slept well on the first night itself, as most patients do and the beard area too healed well and rapidly. I was able to shave on the 7th or 8th day post surgery.

Recovery is normally good and swift, as we take all necessary precautions during the surgical procedure, including proper sterilisation and handling of instruments, not to mention the blood tests done prior to the surgery to exclude any other existing disease.

To sum it up, one forgets the pain and discomfort in a week or so and since the healing takes place quite rapidly, in hindsight, the whole process seems a distant dream and we are quickly back to our normal daily routine, especially after the first hair wash which takes place on the 7th day.

Does hair transplantation work?

Direct Hair Transplant (DHT)® is an innovative new technique of hair transplantation. This technique is a refined version of FUE where grafts extracted are simultaneously implanted in the recipient area. This allows the grafts to return to their own environment faster without damage and desiccation. This leads to more graft survival and better patient satisfaction.

The main causes of female hair loss are age related or hormonal changes and pregnancy. Another important cause is continuous traction of the hair leading to traction fibrosis and permanent loss of hair follicles.

Medicines have a limited effect and patients tend to stop medications out of frustration.

Excessive thinning of hair and visibility of the scalp, due to whatever causes, are reasons enough to go in for a hair transplant in women below 50. Many others have a high forehead and want their hairline lowered to enhance their beauty and personality.

Transplant in women and girls is a beauty enhancing procedure and thus involves artistry and loads of experience. Trimming is not done on the recipient area and the donor region is trimmed in such a way so as to be covered by other existing hair. Utmost care is taken while making the slits so that the existing hair roots are not damaged in any way and the hairline requires a completely natural appearance with fine single hair in the first 6-10 rows with an irregularly irregular look.

We at Eugenix have done numerous hair transplants on women and young ladies, including a host of high profile persons and the outcome has been terrific in all cases and we consider ourselves as the leading experts in hair transplants, especially in females, where the results speak for themselves.

The DIRECT HAIR TRANSPLANT method ( DHT ) authored and mastered by us at EUGENIX HAIR SCIENCES, is by far the best method of hair transplant as compared to the plain FUE/FOLLICULAR UNIT EXCISION or FUT. The reason appears to be plain and simple as in the latter method the hair follicles are extracted, kept aside and then the slits are made following which the hair are then implanted. In the DHT technique, the slits are made first and calculated. The hair follicles are then extracted and implantation takes place side by side even as the extraction is taking place. By this method the follicles don’t remain exposed outside and hence the chances of damage or desiccation is almost nil and we have seen that by this method our success rate is very high and the uptake is almost 100 percent.

The main point is to prevent the hair follicles from remaining out for long and with proper handling and immediate implantation, the results speak for themselves.

EUGENIX HAIR SCIENCES is by far the best Hair Transplant Clinic in India and it definitely is beyond doubt.

Eugenix has two active centres, situated at Gurugram/ Delhi NCR and Mumbai, other two centres are consulting offices in Bhubaneswar and Dehradun. The Gurugram/ Delhi NCR and Mumbai ones being the primary centres where we have surgeries piled up every day.

The reason for terming Eugenix as the best in India is the results we are producing in our surgeries with an almost cent percent uptake with natural ness and donor cosmesis maintenance. The technique adopted by us is the DHT method wherein the grafts are quickly implanted, without challenging them by keeping them out side body for long, avoiding damage and giving exceptional results.

The team at Eugenix is headed by Dr Pradeep Sethi and Dr Arika Bansal, both from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi), the premier medical institute of India, and their work in this field of hair transplants is unparalleled and acknowledged by top hair transplant surgeons the world over, being ranked amongst the top ten in the world.

Transplants done by them at Eugenix have a completely natural look and an onlooker will not be able to tell that the particular person has actually had a hair makeover. Hair transplants are an artistic procedure and the bottom line is their dedication and keen gaze that outlines the hairline and the final appearance of the patient.

And to top it all, they have the best team of junior doctors and technicians, with 4-10 years of experience, to help them accomplish their goal.

We at Eugenix have a long list of high end people and celebrities who have undergone this by us and they themselves advocate our centre, seeing the results that they have achieved.

As far as the cost of hair transplant is concerned, we at Eugenix charge between Rs 120 to Rs 210 ( $ 2-3 ) per graft, varying from one patient to another based upon the number of grafts and the difficulties that we expect to encounter during the procedure.

Advantages of DHT® over traditional FUE/FUT

  • As the grafts are immediately implanted, the exposure of grafts to an external environment (transit time) is reduced from 4-5 hours to few minutes. This improves survival of follicles and better outcome.
  • We have revolutionized hair transplantation by the DHT® technique. Usage of patented implanters has enabled us to incorporate the “‘No Root Touch” technique. Thus, reducing graft damage
  • Surgery by DHT® technique is shorter by 50% as compared to FUE.
  • Chances of graft survival are almost 100%

Yes, results of DHT® are better than other techniques. It also gives better patient satisfaction.

  • In DHT® , the grafts are planted in the scalp as soon as possible. Since the “out of body” time is least , the chance of damage by mechanical handling, desiccation, chemical and thermal damage is least.
  • We also use the special patented implanters which ensures “No Root Handling” and no chances of crushing the grafts during transplantation.
  • DHT® technique is done mostly in sitting position whereas FUE is done in lying position. Sitting position enables extraction and plantation of grafts simultaneously. Two or more specialists can transplant the grafts from side and front position, reducing the overall surgery time by 30-50%.
  • We use the best quality magnification and Carl Zeiss loupes with LED lights with 4-5X magnification. These loupes allow seeing the smallest hair follicles which are likely to be missed by the other loupes and magnification systems. Sometimes the small hair follicles are not seen by low quality magnification and may be damaged. Carl Zeiss loupes prevent the damage of these delicate grafts.
  • The surgical team is led by few rare brains of doctors trained from AIIMS, New Delhi. All the major steps are done by the doctors and not left to the technicians, unlike most of the centers.
  • At our center, the grafts are always under the vigilant eyes of the doctors. In DHT® , the chances of graft damage are least unlike FUE which is primarily done by the technicians.
  • We plan the individualized hairline, define the layout, extract and implant the grafts with extreme precaution.
  • We attend most of the national and international hair transplantation conferences. Deliver talks in the meetings, seminars, conferences.
  • This varies amongst different clinics. It is unfortunate, but there are clinics where only technicians are involved in the surgery. Technicians are not well versed with the artistic aspect of transplantation which is important for a natural looking result. This puts the patient in danger as the technicians are not equipped to handle emergencies.

At DHT, only qualified and experienced doctors perform the surgery. We are committed to providing the best results and patient satisfaction and safety is the utmost importance to us.
